Our story began in Ghana in 2025—with four weeks of volunteering, a special encounter, and a connection that grew into GHANA FIRSTHAND.

OUR STORY

What started as a chance encounter grew into an idea.

What started as a chance encounter grew into an idea.

Nadine and Paulina are best friends, both mothers – and together, the founders of GHANA FIRSTHAND.

It all began in 2025 with Nadine's son, Lucas. After finishing high school, he spent a month volunteering in Ghana, where he met Eric. This encounter sparked a friendship that grew far beyond his stay.

When Nadine traveled to Ghana with her younger son to pick Lucas up, she wanted to see the country he had spoken of so passionately with her own eyes. Ghana felt different: warm, vibrant, authentic – and in many places, still untouched by mainstream tourism. That feeling stayed with her ever since.

We want to make sure other young people can have this exact same experience.

We want to make sure other young people can have this exact same experience.

Nadine developed the idea further together with Paulina, and Eric supported them on the ground right from the start. As mothers, Nadine and Paulina know how much courage it takes to let your child go abroad – and how incredibly valuable such an experience is. This is how they created stays that are personal, fully supported, and truly authentic. We want young people to feel completely safe and at home – and their parents, too.

What began as a chance meeting turned into a friendship, that friendship became an idea – and that idea became GHANA FIRSTHAND.
